If your child has taken fine arts classes over at the Art House off of 1709 there’s a good chance you’ve met Samantha Jones. Samantha is a senior at Carroll High School, teaches Art at the Art House and paints beautiful paintings. Samantha’s interest in art began in middle school when she took some classes
at the rec center, and she’s been creating ever since. Recently, she has been studying the way that light reflects off of droplets of water, which you can see in her pieces. She sees herself doing something artistic for her career after she leaves for college this year.

Who is your favorite artist?
Gustav Klimt. I love the piece The Kiss.
If you weren’t a painter, what would you be doing?
Something creative, photography probably.
What do you love most about painting?
That feeling you get when you take nothing and turn it into something.
What did you want to be as a child?
What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
When I was 10, I thought I was terrible at drawing and was very shy.
Where are you happiest?
With my friends.
What’s the most beautiful place you’ve visited in the world?
Joplin, MO after the tornado, to see it all rebuilt. Bark was blown off of the trees and people had painted murals on the branches.
Where do you go to get away?
I don’t feel the need to get away, really. I’m content with who I am and where I’m at, and I love where I’m from.
